Three-star prospect out of Texas commits to Lovie Smith

CHAMPAIGN — Illinois got a pair of 2019 commitments the last week of April when Chicago Phillips cornerback Joseph Thompson and Trinity Catholic (Mo.) wide receiver picked the Illini on consecutive days to push the class to five commits.

Then 57 days passed without any further commitments for Illinois. Spring became summer.

Illinois baseball announced Thursday the signing of Josh Harris, a 24-year-old from Beecher who spent four years in the Marine Corps from 2011 and 2015.

CHAMPAIGN — Josh Harris will arrive at Illinois with just one season of junior college baseball experience. But likely more world experience than many of his future teammates.

Illinois announced Thursday that Harris, a 24-year-old from Beecher, signed with the Illini baseball program on Wednesday after pitching this past spring at Kankakee Community College.
